Getting medical help using 111 online in the NHS App

If you think you need medical help right now, you can use 111 online in the NHS App to find out what to do.

From the homepage, tap on the Services icon at the bottom of the screen. From here, you can:

  • Open the NHS App and make sure you are logged in
  • Tap on Check if you need urgent medical help using 111 online
  • You’ll be asked to agree that certain bits of vital information are shared with the 111 service. To continue, tap the green I agree button
  • Tap Start
  • You’ll see what options might be available, including urgent treatment centres, out-of-hours GP appointments or specialist support.
  • Before you start using the service, you’ll be asked to check that it’s not an emergency and you don’t need to call 999
  • If it is not a life-threatening emergency, you can continue using the service, where you will be advised what to do next based on your location and symptoms
